Abstract

The immunophenotype of leukaemia cells of 12 patients with rare types of acute leukaemia were shown. The immunophenotype assay was based on direct staining of leukaemia cells with monoclonal antibodies conjugated with phycoerythrin or fluorescein for surface expression of determinants and staining fixed cells for cytoplasm expression of determinants. The analysis described different types of atypical immunophenotypes. The rare types of acute leukaemia included: mixed lineage leukaemia (AMLL), bi-phenotypic and bi-lineage leukaemia (i.e. common ALL/AML), co-expression of determinants from the other cell line (common ALL+My) and a case of clinical co-existence of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) and acute myeloblastic leukaemia (AML). The clinical course and results of therapy cases were shortly presented with a discussion.
